Taiwan Railway E-Booking App: User Guide
This is an unofficial user guide for purchasing train tickets on the Taiwan Railway E-Booking app. The app is primarily used by Taiwanese users in Mandarin Chinese; however, the English language version of the UI lacks documentation and can be confusing to navigate for a first-time user. I focused on the primary tasks that a user would use this app for—booking, paying for, collecting, and scanning their tickets. I also provided an overview of the features available on the app’s home screen.
Note: This user guide is intended to be a stand-in for the software documentation I completed during my time at Visa, Inc. During my two years at Visa, I managed over 2,000 pages of content, including user guides, implementation guides, and service descriptions for Visa’s DPS Mobile App, Digital Enablement SDK, and Visa B2B Connect (among others). I used writing structures and authoring conventions similar to those I used at Visa to write this user guide.
Process: This user guide assumes that the reader has never used the app before and is completely unfamiliar with the process of booking a train ticket in Taiwan, online or in person. I went through the actions of purchasing and using a train ticket and collected screencaps for each step of the process. I included the most important screenshots in my documentation to illustrate the tasks. In processing the images, I ensured that I had scrubbed them of all potentially confidential information such as confirmation codes, booking codes, and the ID number of the ticket holder.
